Dear Moms,
Have you ever played around with Aerobics?
Aerobics is any form of exercise that raises your heart rate. Aerobics can be a fun way to reduce stress, boost your energy, and move your body!
Please remember: taking care of yourself is part of taking care of your family!
As a busy Mom myself, I hope to encourage you today, to intentionally fit a minimum of 20 minutes of exercise into your busy schedule.
Aerobics improves heart healthy, boosts strength stamina, flexibility and overall fitness.
Dr. Kenneth H. Cooper is an American physician best known as the “father of aerobics.” He is a pioneer of preventive medicine and helped popularize cardiovascular exercise as a way to maintain health. Once, as a physician in the U.S. Air Force, Dr. Cooper, promotes Aerobics as “the real secret to physical fitness!”
I appreciate the practical reasons which Dr. Cooper gives for why it is beneficial to practice aerobics!
He says, “It’s easier and more cost effective to maintain good health, than to regain it once it’s lost.” and “No drug can replace the effects of an active lifestyle.” –Dr. Kenneth H. Cooper
In my early days as a Mom, my favorite form of Aerobics was taking our baby for a short run or walking with my jogging stoller.
I loved this type of multitasking!
Mama was getting much needed exercise, while our little ones were getting much needed fresh air. When the weather was chilly, I appreciated how roomy my jogging stroller was, because I had the ability to bundle the baby really nice and warm!
Speaking of bundling babies nice and warm, here’s a fun fact for you:
In the country Findland, parents leave their babies outside in the cold to sleep. Finnish parents put their babies bundled secure and warm in strollers, because fresh air is beneficial for babies health; which is a common cultural practice, in Finland.
Practicing the ways of health can lead to unexpected benefits.
For example, on days when I as a young Mom, pushed to take an intentional step towards health, a step which is separate from the daily grind,
I find that this intention actually boosts my energy to accomplish everything which without this added boost, may lead to burnout.
Feeling burnout may happen as a Mom, I understand; especially if you’ve experienced postpartum symptoms.
Please don’t feel embarrassed about this, please let a loved one know, or speak with someone you trust.
Like the father of Aerobics says, “I mainly like to exercise because it makes me feel good.”
Aerobics examples:
Dancing
Step exercises
water aerobics
Jumping jacks
Brisk walking
Low-impact cardi movements
You can do it! Exercise matters— not just for fitness, but for prevention, mood and quality of life.
And as always,
Take Care!
-Ray
